Data Recovery Company Tips

If one morning you turn on your computer and nothing is more important Do not Panic. Methodical and follow a series of logical steps:

  •     If you try to run to detect in the BIOS on your computer, and it is not detected it is usually a hardware failure.
  •      If the drive makes loud grinding or clicking sounds not to try to discover it, you'll only cause more damage.
  •      If no sounds are heard, to boot from a bootable floppy disk to confirm that the computer works.
  •      Attach a second good drive to cable to see if it will be discovered. If it works do you know your drive has failed.

If your Windows drive is detected by the BIOS on the computer, but you get a message like "no OS present Insert a bootable floppy:

  •      Try booting from a floppy disk and then change to drive C. Do a dir command to try to see the files.
  •      If a message says "invalid media, to abort, retry, no hit pause and then try to fdisk to load from your startup disk.
  •      Use fdisk to partition see. If the partition information shows something other than DOS, you have a logical corruption.

If any of the above happened to you so you need data recovery.

Backups, backups, backups are a must if you end up never want to return to this site. Full tape backups can be slow and clunky, but easy to program to run at night. If you prefer your computer off at night, your software to backup only what has changed each day just before leaving office. Make sure you start with a full backup of at least once a week, otherwise restore all daily sessions can take a long time.

Restore a full backup session is a relatively simple matter. If the reason for the upswing is because of a failed hard drive, reinstall Windows or another OS first and then install the tape device and backup software. Full recovery should put all your other programs, just as you had them before the error. This is important for personal computer users who are unskilled in the program of plant or perhaps a special setup done by outside help. A recent restoration of a full backup will prevent someone again to spend creating your software.

For experienced users, a popular alternative to a full backup tape only backup personal folders to a faster device such as a Zip or Jazz drive SyQuest contain. The backup and restore speed is much faster and the discs can be easily removed and stored in a safe place. Now that most software comes on CD, it's quicker to reinstall the programs you this way must then restore them from tape.

Regardless of backup devices used to remember an extra copy of your backup media in a safe place away from your computer if your computer is stolen or a fire to destroy.

Finally, it is recommended that only a partial recovery to a different drive about once a month. If you do not have another drive just create a new root directory when the software asks for the name of the new disk just type C: \ newdir. This will fool the software and will allow you to see the correct directory tree structure is restored in this location. You can quickly compare these folders and files in their original location on disk. Remember backups are usually poorly understood and restores can easily fail when you need them most. Learn how your backups and restores work and it must not happen to you.
